Friday, 11 September 2009

The expected results in Weightlifting event in the coming South Asian Games scheduled for January 2010 in Bangladesh may be hindered due to lack of facilities, reports BSS.
This was disclosed by President of Bangladesh Weightlifting Federation (BWF) Wing Commander (retd) Mohiuddin Ahmed to the agency.
Weightlifting and Taekwondo competitions of the 11th SA games will be held at the National Sports Council (NSC) gymnasium.
A warmup room is a must for holding the Games competitions, and currently Bangladesh weightlifters are given training in a small room on the eastern side of the Swimming Pool at Bangabandhu National Stadium.
The present training room is too small even for the Bangladesh weightlifters whereas in the SA games six countries will take part and the organizing committee will be in a trouble to solve the problem during the Games.
BWF President Wing Commander (retd) Mohiuddin Ahmed told the correspondent that they had earlier applied for a warmup and training room in the NSC on July 15 and despite the SA Games almost knocking at the door, the NSC is yet to fulfill the demand.
He also added that they have requested the NSC to allot them the NSC auditorium for six months as the they will use it as a warmup and training room but NSC officials have cited impractical reasons not giving any positive response to the proposal.
