Expert body to look into trade potential of snakes' venom

The government has formed a committee of experts to explore the possibility of farming and exporting snake's venom after the demise of Tota Mian of Thakurgaon, who pioneered commercial snake farming. The committee headed by Sohrab Uddin Sarker, professor of the Zoology Department of Dhaka University, will collect data on various species of snakes and professional snake-charmers. Besides, the committee will also draft rules and regulations on snake farming and venom export.
