Experts stress unified pry edn system

Experts at a workshop Sunday said the country needs a unified primary education system for the betterment of education.
The government should declare primary education as fundamental rights, they said at the inauguration function of a two-day workshop, titled 'Workshop for journalists on primary education reporting in Bangladesh'.
Amar Odhikar Foundation, with the help of Oxfam, organised it at the Dhaka Reporters Unity.
The programme was chaired by media personality Abu Sayeed Khan. Educationist Masuda Faruque Ratna, and Subaltern Communication Research Centre (SCRC) chairman Delowar Jahan, among others, spoke on the occasion.   
Discussing the theoretical aspects of primary education, the experts said there is no alternative to launching unified education system from the primary level.
Mr Khan said countries like Korea, China and Vietnam advanced significantly, as they introduced unified education system for their children.
Ms Ratna emphasised the need for special care for the physically- and mentally-challenged children. The workshop will conclude today (Monday).
