An explosion took place outside National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) office in Kolkata’s Salt Lake City area on Monday evening. Police said a bomb went off outside the NIA’s makeshift office in Sector-5 under Salt Lake City in the capital of West Bengal around 7:30pm. Kolkata’s senior police officials rushed to the spot immediately after Monday evening’s blast in this high-security area. The NIA has kept some of the accused of the October 2 Burdawn blast for interrogation in this office, located in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp, near which the explosion occurred. However, no casualty was reported. The explosion partially damaged a bus shelter in Sector 5 area. A sentry posted at the gate of the CRPF campus saw some object being hurled from a moving vehicle, police officials said. There was no one in the bus shelter when the ‘bomb’ was hurled, police quoting the witness said. Additional Commissioner of Bidhannagar Police Commiserate Debasish Dhar said ‘We have collected samples from the spot. It is very early to say the nature of the explosives that have been used,’ according to bdnews24.com.
