CHITTAGONG, Mar 21: Export Promotion Bureau Chittagong region organised a seminar on compliance in the readymade garment (RMG) sector at its office in the port city on Thursday.
Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) first vice president Md Hatem presented details on compliances in the RMG sector as the resource person. The seminar was presided over by EPB director Md Alamgir Siddiqui.
Over 60 representatives of different exporting firms, banks, insurances, and government and autonomous bodies attended the seminar.

Mr Siddiqui said that 94 per cent of the country's total export is limited within eight products while more than 80 per cent of the total revenue earning is dependent on four markets only.
The country must end the excessive dependence on four markets and explore diversified markets of the garment and other products.
The export earning was not satisfactory in 2012-13 fiscal as it earned worth US$ 27.02 billion against the target at $28.00 billion.  The growth of export was 11.22 per cent.
The target for export earning for the fiscal 2013-14 has been set at $30.50 billion. Against the target Bangladesh has earned worth $19,407.15 million in eight months of the fiscal.
