BENAPOLE: Export-import activities through Benapole land port remained suspended from Sunday morning as port handling workers in India went on a work abstention protesting assault on their fellowmen by BSF members.
Kartik Chakrabarti, general secretary of Petrapole C&F Agent Staff Welfare Association, said the port handling workers in Petrapole suspended work at the port protesting BSF assaults, according to a news agency.
He, however, could not say when the Indian port handling workers were assaulted by members of Border Security Force.
Sirajul Islam, tax official of Benapole customs check post cargo, said no goods-laden truck from India entered the country due to the trade suspension. Several hundred goods-laden trucks remain stranded on both sides of the port, he said.
