Monday, 23 May 2011

BRAHMANBARIA, May 22: Export and import through Akhaura landport have been suspended due to a new tax rule. The suspension of work has occurred due to difficulty in paying duties in Agartala land port, said Akhaura land port export-import association president Mohammad Safiqul Islam on Sunday, reports bdnews24.com. According to the new rule, the businessmen will have to pay through banks by 'Treasury note', Safiqul told bdnews24.com. "Since Sunday is a weekly holiday in India, they could not pay the taxes," he added. Such closure causes a revenue loss of Tk 10 million every day.
