Export of herbal medicines can fetch $5.0b

The country can earn over $5.0 billion (500 crore) annually by exporting herbal medicinal products with the introduction of a pragmatic policy and streamlining production of herbal medicines through optimal use of available resources, reports BSS.
The observation came at the concluding session of the two-day national conference on medicinal plant promotion in healthcare jointly organised by Satsanga Pallikalyan Samity and People's Health Movement in cooperation with ActionAid Bangladesh and European Commission.
The national conference was told that a large number of rare species of herbal plant are being extinct due to the negligence and unawareness.
Six papers were presented in the conference on the present situation of the herbal and medicinal plants and their future production.
