Exporters seek cash incentive

Domestic home appliance and kitchenware makers have sought cash incentive on the export of such items with an aim to help expand export earnings, sources said.
Bangladesh Home Appliance and Kitchenware Manufacturers' Association has requested the commerce ministry to take steps to this effect.
There is a huge demand for domestic appliances in the global market. State backing is required to increase the volume of export, it argued.
It is possible to develop the sector if the government comes up with adequate support, according to the association.
The sector meets the country's overall demand for such items and kichenalia. Raw materials of the industry are collected from both internal and external sources.
There is an immense opportunity to earn foreign currencies and employment of domestic manpower, it claimed.
When contacted, the association could not provide the data on the volume of exports and production.
