Exports to Germany, UK, France post modest growth

Country’s exports to key destinations like Germany, UK and France posted modest growth in the first eight months (July-February) of the current fiscal as compared to the same period of the last fiscal (2012-13). In July-February of 2013-14 fiscal, exports to Germany totalled $ 3,172.99 million, which was 16 per cent of total export earnings for the eight-month period. Of the amount, knitwear accounted for $1,725.50 million, woven garments $ 1,210.88 million and frozen shrimp $ 53.54 million, according to latest figures released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB). The EPB figures showed exports to the UK during July-February period  totalled $ 1,866.77 million, which was 9.41 per cent of the total export earnings for the period. Export of RMG items to the UK accounted for $ 1,657.61 million in July-February of 2013-14, a growth of 4.24 per cent over $ 1,590.22 million during the same period of the previous fiscal. The home textile export to the UK during the period was $ 48.37 million, frozen shrimp $ 61.54 million and bicycles $38.24 million, according to a news agency.
