Expulsion of the unruly JCD activists demanded

Students and teachers of Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) Department of Dhaka University (DU) Saturday demanded permanent expulsion of those unruly JCD activists who had beaten up 10 of their fellow students Thursday night.
"We demand permanent expulsion of the attacking cadres of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) from the university by today (Saturday). Otherwise we will go for tougher movement to ensure punishment for the attackers", the aggrieved students and teachers of MCJ Department said at a rally after a silent procession protesting the attack on the DU Campus Saturday noon.
Later, they submitted a memorandum to DU Vice-Chancellor SMA Faiz and held a meeting with him in this connection demanding permanent expulsion of the alleged JCD activists. The VC assured them of taking immediate action against the attackers.
MCJ Department Chairman Sheikh Abdus Salam, teachers AAMS Arefin Siddique and Robayet Ferdous, among others, attended the protest rally.
A group of 20 to 25 JCD activists led by DU F Rahman hall unit President Aminul Islam Amin had attacked at least 10 MCJ Department students over a trifle matter leaving them injured at TSC area Thursday midnight. Of the injured, third-semester student Shah Alam Kiron is now at hospital in critical condition.
