Extortion case filed against ex BNP MP Habibul Islam

Satkhira, Aug 2 (UNB)- An extortion case of Tk 2 crore was filed here against former BNP MP Habibul Islam Habib on Wednesday. Owner of construction firm M/S Joint Bricks Traders Abu Naser Mohammd Abu Syed, son of Abdus Sabur of Alipur village in Sadar upazila filed the case with the police. In his complaint Syed said that his father Abdus Sabur had got a work order from Water Development Board for constructing a sluice gate on September 2, 2003. The plaintiff in the belated said, “When BNP MP of Satkhira-1 (Tala-Koloroa) constituency Habibul Islam Habib came to know the matter he called me to his house in Kolaroa upazila and under death threat he demanded Tk 2 crore as toll from me.” He said finding no other way out he paid Tk 1.71 crore through six separate cheques of National Bank to Habib.
