Extra ordinary security measures put HSC examinees in trouble
Monday, 2 June 2008
An extraordinary security measure around the parliament building complex Sunday put the HSC examinees into difficulty as the roads were closed to traffic from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon, reports UNB.
The security measures were taken as two ex-Prime Ministers-Sheikh Hasina and Khaleda Zia, were produced before special courts in separate scam cases.
The police put up barbed wire fence on the roads restricting movement by all types of vehicles around the parliament building complex.
Those coming from Mohammadpur, Kazipara, Shewrapara, Mirpur and Shyamoli to the examination centres faced the ordeal, as alternative Bijoy Swaroni, Rokeya Swaroni and roads in front of Islamia Eye Hospital experienced heavy traffic jam with buses, private cars and other vehicles.
Because of traffic jam, many examinees were seen discarding transport and walked to the examination centres from Khejur Bagan, Asad Gate and Zia Uddyan areas and reached the centres late.
Jahirul Islam, an HSC examinee, told UNB that restriction on movement of vehicular traffic in the areas should have been notified earlier. He reached 20 minutes after the examination started at Tejgaon Govt. Science College centre.
Similar complain was made by Shahida Yasmin and Sumana Rahman.
