Fahmida named member of BB board

MDs of six state-owned banks go

The government has appointed Dr. Fahmida Khatun, executive director of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), as a member of the board of directors in Bangladesh Bank (BB), the country's central bank.
The Financial Institutions Division (FID) under the Ministry of Finance issued a notification on Thursday regarding Dr. Khatun's appointment for the next three years after she joined the board of the banking regulator. The government also cancelled the contractual appointment of top executives of six state-owned commercial banks.
The FID also issued notifications regarding cancellation of the appointment of managing directors and chief executive officers of these banks on Thursday.
They are Sonali Bank's Md Afzal Karim, Janata Bank's Md Abdul Jabber, BASIC Bank's Md Anisur Rahman, Rupali Bank's Mohammad Jahangir, Agrani Bank's Md Murshedul Kabir and Bangladesh Development Bank's Md Habibur Rahman Gazi.
