Fair in May to promote B\\\'desh denim

An exposition will begin in the city on May 11 to promote the country's denim trade as Bangladesh aims to raise its share to $7.0 billion in the world market by 2021.
To be organised by Bangladesh Denim Expo, the two-day fair will be held at Radisson Hotel, said a statement.
A total of 25 local and foreign companies will participate in the fair.
Besides host Bangladesh, exhibitors from US, Germany, China, Japan, India, Italy, Thailand, Italy, Turkey, Hong Kong and Pakistan will showcase fabrics, accessories, and different technologies of the sector.
Retailers from the US, the UK, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, Japan, and Brazil are expected to visit the expo.  The target of $7.0 billion denim products export has been fixed in line with the vision drawn up by the textiles and clothing industry to reach $50 billion apparel shipment milestone by 2021.
Bangladesh's share is still insignificant $60 billion global denim market. The country has potential to earn more from the export of denim garment products.
A total of three seminars on different topics will be organised at the fair. A fashion show on the latest designs and fashion of denim will e held on the second day of the expo.
The aim of the expo is not only to promote the denim trade in Bangladesh, but also to encourage better business practice and improve living standards of Bangladeshi people.
Surplus funds from the show will be channeled into a seed fund for a Denim University in the country to promote knowledge about the denim business.
