Sunday, 31 August 2008

Police at Sayedabad area Saturday arrested a man, who had allegedly kidnapped a hotel employee introducing himself as a soldier, reports UNB.

Arif Hossain (20), son of late Shahbuddin and resident of South Kutubkhali under Jatrabari police station, came to Swagatom residential hotel at Gulistan in the morning along with four accomplices and took away hotel employee Suman (30), by a microbus.

The men, three clad in army uniform, told the hotel authorities that there were allegations against Suman and they needed to interrogate him.

Later, they took Suman to Rose Residential Hotel at Sayedabad in the morning, and asked the hotel manager to give them a room. Again, they introduced themselves as members of the Bangladesh Army.

They took away Tk 12,300 from Suman after physically assaulting him and finally came out of the room, leaving behind Suman.

At one point, a retired army sergeant who was waiting at the hotel lobby, challenged them for their suspicious movement.

Sensing trouble, they started running towards their microbus parked in front of the hotel.

A police patrol near the scene chased them and managed to catch Arif.
