Fake cosmetics factory busted in city, 2 jailed

A Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) mobile court sentenced on Monday the owner of a fake cosmetic factory and its manager to different jail terms on charge of producing and marketing spurious cosmetic products, reports UNB.
Acting on a tip-off, a RAB-2 team along with executive magistrate Md Anisur Rahman conducted a raid at Baro Hazar Goli of Chawkbazar from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.
During the drive, the elite force members found that fake cosmetics were put in the used empty packets and containers of famous brands, including Unilever, Head and Shoulder, Himalaya, Adidas and Ego.
The RAB-2 members arrested factory owner Md Yeasin (23) and his manager Md Shakil (19) from the spot.
Later, the mobile court sentenced Yeasin to one year's imprisonment and fined him Tk 50,000, in default, to suffer three months more in jail. Shakil was sentenced to six months' simple jail.
The crime-buster team also seized huge quantities of fake cosmetics from the factory.
