Fake doctor, 7 agents jailed

A mobile court in Chapainawabganj sentenced a fake doctor to 2 years’ rigorous imprisonment and his 7 agents to one year’s jail each on Wednesday. The convicts are fake doctor Morshed, son of Abul Kalam of Bahadurpur village of Bheramara Upazila of Kushtia district; Abul Kalam, son of Sadiqul Biswas of Charmohonpur village and Abul Kashem, son of Abdur Rakib of Diar Dhainagar village of Sadar Upazila; Sariqul Islam and Abul Kalam, sons of Raisuddin, a resident of Monnatola village and Mithun Ahmad, son of Nurul Islam, a resident of Ajmatpur Bagichapara village in Shibganj Upazila, Manirul Islam, son of Mamtaz Ali, a resident of Bangabari village of Gomastapur Upazila of Chapainawabganj and Ashraful, son of Saidur Rahman of Narashinghapur village of Bagmara Upazila of Rajshahi district. The court also fined the fake physician Tk 0.1 million. Major Kamruzzaman Pavel, commanding officer of Chapainawabganj Rapid Action Battlion-5, said a team of the elite force led by its executive magistrate Abdullah Al Mamun conducted a raid on the house of Morshed in Shahibag area in the district town and arrested him and his 7 agents. Morshed had long been giving people treatment impersonating a physician and the 7 others brokering deal with patients for him, according to a news agency.
