Fake driving license holders facing legal action

Sunday, 30 March 2014

Communication Minister Obaidul Quader informed the House that the rate of road accidents has declined by 53 per cent in five years since 2008.
Quader quoted a Police Headquarters Report replying to a written question from Awami League MP AFM Bahauddin Nasim (Madaripur-3) Sunday.
The Communication Minister said that the government holds regular drives against fake driving licenses and vehicles that run without licenses.
The drives are conducted by mobile courts comprising three executive magistrates from the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and executive magistrates from the concerned district administration.
Besides, he said that due legal action is being taken against fake license holders and against those not having licenses.
Quader said that with the introduction of digital smart card driving licenses, there is no scope for providing fake licenses by BRTA, according to a news agency.
