Fake factory found, huge vermicelli seized in Sylhet

SYLHET, Oct 6 (UNB): A mobile court unearthed a fake vermicelli factory in a house in Sobhanighat area of the city and seized a huge quantity of vermicelli and other products Thursday.
The mobile court, comprising the members of RAB-9 and BSTI officials, led by First Class Magistrate Devjit Singh raided the house of city BNP Vice-President Abul Kahar Shamim at night on the day and unearthed the fake factory. But they could not arrest him.
They later seized vermicelli and some packets of 'chanachur' and crushed rice worth about Tk 1.0-1.2 million (10-12 lakh) from the factory. Some documents were also seized from the house during the drive.
The mobile court sealed off the factory and arrested its Manager Keshab Acharya along with eight other employees. Later, the court arranged payment of one month's salary and Eid bonus for the eight employees and set them free.
Three cases were filed in this connection.
