Fake notes on the increase
Tuesday, 30 September 2014
With Eid-ul Azha in the offing, circulation of fake notes have become rampant in the markets as unscrupulous people try to utilise this opportunity. They inject fake currency into the market. The members of the law-enforcing agencies are hardly seen containing such practices. As media reports indicate there are a few gangs who produce fake notes and circulate those in the market through their agents. If the manufacturers are arrested, only then we can get rid of fake notes. The common people often become victim and they have no way but to suffer silently. We hope the law-enforcing agencies will crack own on the fake currency manufacturers and circulators. Nowadays when I draw small amounts of money from the bank, I am very careful. But it is not possible to check each and every note when the amount is big.
In banks, the cashiers also are extra vigilant when they receive deposits from customers so that they do not get fake money. Each bank should have fake currency detectors. Quite often the media carry reports of the law-enforcing agencies nabbing some fake money manufacturers, but they secure bail and soon they restart their clandestine business. Strict law must be enacted so that the fake money producers and circulators can not come out free from jails. Only tough laws and their strict enforcement can help us get rid of this menace.
