Fake soft drink factory shut in Keraniganj

A mobile court has unearthed a fake soft drink factory at Kalakandi in Keraniganj Upazila of Dhaka district. The court, led by magistrate and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abul Bashar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman, conducted a drive, on the basis of a tip-off, at the soft drink-making factory - Life Touch Agro and Beverage Ltd - and found a large quantity of fake bottled juice, bottled energy drinks and bottled water of different prominent companies. The factory has been running for the last two years without valid documents and approval of BSTI, Magistrate Fakhruzzaman said. The factory was sealed off by the order of the magistrate. The court also sentenced 6 months jail to Mohammad Giasuddin, the owner of the factory, for producing adulterated food in his factory. It also fined him Tk 20,000, according to a news agency.
