A Dhaka court Thursday granted bail to BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a police constable killing case, but denied his bail pleas in two other cases, reports UNB.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajaul Karim passed the order after a hearing when he appeared before the court seeking bail.
The court also rejected his bail petitions in two bus arson attack cases-one took place in Shahbagh area and another in Malibagh Chowdhury Para.
On January 20, the High Court (HC) granted bail for eight weeks (until March 29) to Mirza Fakhrul in the three cases.
On the night of December 24 last year, police constable Md Ferdous was burnt alive and two other constables suffered burn injuries as unidentified criminals set the vehicle on fire by pouring petrol at capital's Bangla Motor intersection.
Later, police filed a case against some BNP leaders, including Mirza Fakhrul, with Ramna Police Station.
On March 16, a CMM court sent Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and its two other leaders to jail rejecting their bail petitions in other cases.
