A Dhaka court on Thursday granted bail to BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a case filed for vandalising and torching vehicles during a road blockade programme enforced by the then 18-party alliance in 2012. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Alamgir Kabir Raj gave the BNP leader bail on a surety of Tk 5,000 after he surrendered to the court. Fakhrul appeared before the court in the afternoon upon his return from Singapore when his counsel M Sanaullah Miah filed a bail petition for him, according to a news agency.
