Wednesday, 4 February 2015

A Dhaka court Tuesday placed BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on a five-day fresh remand in a case filed with Motijheel police station under the Explosive Substances Act, reports UNB.
Metropolitan Magistrate Imdadul Haq passed the order when Detective Branch (DB) of police sub-inspector Anwar Hossain, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, produced him before the court, seeking a 10-day remand.
In his forwarding, the IO told the court that Fakhrul needs to be taken on remand to trace the absconding accused and for the sake of proper investigation.
After rejecting a bail petition, filed by defence counsel Advocate Sanaullah Miah, the court granted a five-day remand for Fakhrul.
On January 4, miscreants torched a private car in front of Baitul Mamur Mosque at AGB Colony in Motijheel.
Suman Chandra Nath, SI of Motijheel thana, filed a case against 81 BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists, including Fakhrul, Rafiqul Islam Miah and Barkatullah Bulu, in this connection.
Fakhrul, now in custody, was earlier put on a three-day remand on January 27 in another case filed with Paltan thana under the Explosive Substances Act.
