Fakhrul shifted to BSMMU

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was shifted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BS-MMU) from Kashimpur Jail on Saturday for better treatment following a High Court order, report agencies.
Nasir Uddin, a guard of prison-2 of Kashimpur jail, said Fakhrul was sent to BSMMU at around 10:30 am.
The BNP leader has been suffering from various health complications, including diabetes, high blood pressure and cardiac problem.
Earlier on June 12, the High Court (HC) ordered the authorities to admit the BNP leader to BSMMU for better treatment.
The HC has given the order to move Fakhrul after his wife appealed following an allegation made by BNP that their party leaders were not getting proper treatment at the prison.
Doctor at Kashimpur jail Md Shahadat Hossain told the news agency that Fakhrul has a blockade at the internal carotid artery. He has also been suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes. He said, the BNP leader needs to see a vascular surgeon, a neurologist, a gastroenterologist and a cardiologist.
