Falling iron rod kills JU student at Dhanmondi

A Jahangirnagar University (JU) student was killed and another student injured after they were struck by an iron rod falling from a construction site at Dhaka's Dhanmondi, reports bdmews24.com.
The incident occurred on Friday evening on the road next to the Medinova building at Dhanmondi, said Dhanmondi Police Station SI Golam Mostofa.
The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Mahmud bin Ashraf, who was a student of the Department of Philosophy at Jahangirnagar University.
The injured has been identified as Iftedar Evan, 21, a student at a private university at Dhanmondi. Evan has been admitted to a local hospital.
SI Golam Mostafa told the news agency the two were playing cricket with their friends on an empty road next to Medinova on Friday evening when an iron rod from a nearby construction site fell onto the electric lines above them.
