NILPHAMARI, May 3: One-family-one-farm project of the government which envisages selected ultra-poor families to be provided with financial and material support for their poverty reduction is being implemented in Nilphamari district. The project that started in 2009 is under implementation by BRDB. Under the project each beneficiary family is to be provided with either a cow or goats and such materials like tubewell, sanitary latrine along with necessary training for self employment. The pre-condition of the project is that the selected beneficiary must be a woman and she must have 0.5 to 2 acres of land in her entitlement. Sources said out of 60 union parishads of the district only 24 union parishads are at present have been included in the project where 5760 families are selected as beneficiaries.
