Family members have met condemned war crimes convict and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Muhammad Kamaruzzaman at Dhaka Central Jail in Old Dhaka on Wednesday morning. Ten members of his family turned up at the prison to meet him just before 10:00am. After the jail authorities allowed them in, they spent about 30 minutes with Kamaruzzaman, who is on death row for 1971 war crimes. Senior Jailor Farman Ali said that the family members were with Kamaruzzaman, the assistant secretary general of Jamaat, from 10:38am to 11:08am. The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court last Monday turned down Kamaruzzaman's appeal against the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2's death sentence and upheld it, according to bdnews24.com.
