Family members meet Hasina in London

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday reunited with her daughter Saima Hossain Putul, sister Sheikh Rehana, and her niece Tulip Siddiq, who was elected MP from a London constituency in the UK parliamentary election held in May. Tulip met her aunt Sheikh Hasina for the first time since she became the member of British parliament. She went to London Hilton on Park Lane hotel around 8:00pm on Friday local time (2:00am Saturday Bangladesh Standard Time). As Hasina had a schedule to visit physician for eye treatment, she kept Tulip waiting at the hotel. Earlier, a hearty and warm reception was accorded to Sheikh Hasina as she arrived at London’s Heathrow International Airport on Friday afternoon on a 6-day personal visit to the United Kingdom. A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage landed at the Heathrow International Airport at 3:47pm (local time), PM's Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhuri said. At the airport, the Prime Minister was received by Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Md Abdul Hannan and senior officials of Bangladesh High Commission in London. She was also presented a bouquet at the time. Leaders of Awami League and its associate bodies, UK units as well as huge number of expatriate Bangladeshis were also present at the airport to welcome Sheikh Hasina. During the cruise to London, the Prime Minister went around the passenger lounges and exchanged pleasantries with the travellers and inquired about their well-being. The Prime Minister left Dhaka for London at 10:00am on Friday, according to a news agency.
