The family of late Shamarukh Mahjabin Kona, daughter-in-law of former MP Khan Tipu Sultan, has rejected Kona’s autopsy report, saying Tipu and his family may have influenced this report. When contacted, Dhanmondi police station’s OC Abu Bakar Siddique said they received Kona's autopsy report on Sunday afternoon. Quoting the report Siddique said Kona committed suicide by hanging herself. But Kona's family turned down the report, saying Tipu and his wife Dr Jesmin Ara Begum may have influenced this report, demanding a second autopsy. Kona, wife of Tipu Sultan's son Humayun Sultan Shadab, was brought dead to Central Hospital from Tipu’s Dhanmondi residence by her in-laws on November 13. Despite in-laws' claims that Kona took her own life, her father Nurul Islam had lodged a murder case against the former Jessore-5 lawmaker's family on the night of Nov 13 after she was brought dead to the hospital. Kona's husband Humayun Sultan Shadab was arrested in that case and remanded by a Dhaka court and is currently in jail pending trial. But Tipu and Jesmin, who were also named in the case, had secured bail from High Court. Talking to reporters, Kona’s father Nurul Islam, a retired PWD engineer, claimed that her daughter was murdered. He said they would move the court for another autopsy, according to a news agency.
