FAO project for Sidr victims in progress

KHULNA, Dec 7: A total of 82,000 farmers of all categories particularly marginal, landless and small farmers are receiving quality inputs for crop, fish and livestock sectors with adequate support by technical knowledge through training under a project of FAO-EUFF in the recent natural disaster Sidr and Aila in 12 districts of south-western region of the country.
The project is being implemented through 10 non-government ornganisations as partners. It was disclosed in a press conference on the needs for providing quality inputs to landless, poor and marginal farmers at proper time, held here at CSS auditorium, arranged by Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations Monday.
National project manager, of FAO, Md Mizanur Rahman, training specialist Gopal Chowhan, former DG of DAE Tariq Hasan were present in the session and answered the questions from participants.
The press conference informed that there are 20 Upazillas of Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira,Narail, Borguna, Barishal, Bhola, Patuakhali, Faridpur, Madaripur, Shariatpur and Gopalgonj have been brought under this project. Disabled, aged woman, abandoned by the husband and widows are given top priorities among the beneficiaries under this project.
