Farashganj 'Plate' champs

Farashganj SC emerged 'Plate' champions in the Citycell Super Cup Football upsetting Sheikh Russell KC by a solitary goal at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) in Dhaka Wednesday, reports UNB.
Chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on Youth and Sports Ministry Zahid Ahsan Russell witnessed the day's final as the chief guest and distributed the prizes among the winners.
Plate champions Farashganj SC received Tk 0.4 million (Tk 4 lakh) while runners-up Sheikh Russell KC got Tk 0.3 million.
In the day's match, Enamul Haque scored the all-important goal for Farashganj SC in the 68th minute with a placing shot from inside the D-box after receiving a minus from Ugandan striker Idris Mutobi (1-0).
Farashganj SC first came close to scoring in the 45th minute but a shot taken by foreign recruit Emeka Lucky Uti from vantage position off Khokon Das minus sailed harmlessly over the cross bar.
After the lemon break, Farashganj missed another goal as an angular shot by Idris SC from inside the danger zone off Rintu pass also sailed over the cross bar.
Sheikh Russell KC missed a goal in the 34th minute when Serbian recruit Vukadin Milunovic volley from inside the danger zone off Monwar cross went over the cross bar.
Milunovic missed another scoring chance in the 24th minute as he failed to push the ball home from vantage position after receiving an Alfaz corner.
Farashganj SC played better football all through the match and notched their deserving victory, while Sheikh Russell KC was totally off-colour.
