Farashganj play to 1-1 draw with Rahmatganj

Thursday, 19 July 2007

Two mediocre metropolis clubs Farashganj SC and Rahmatganj MFS split points playing to a 1-1 draw in the day's lone B League match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) in the city Wednesday, reports UNB.
With this tame draw, Farashganj SC still remained at the 7th position securing 22 points from 19 matches while Rahmatganj MFS lie in the 10th slot with 13 points from 18 matches.
Forward Mohammad Robin scored for Farashganj SC while right winger Rasel Ansari netted for Rahmatganj MFS.
Robin put Farashganj SC ahead in the very 4th minute with a powerful right footer from the left side of the D-box after getting a minus from Mohammad Ali (1-0).
Rasel restored parity for Rahmatganj MFS in the 20th minute with a high lob from the right flank, which was completely misjudged by opponent custodian Mamun Khan.
Mamun, who was standing around 20 feet in front of the goal line, tried to fist the ball away at the last moment, but it was too late as the ball kissed the net (1-0).
After the lemon break, Farashganj SC got a formidable chance to take lead in the 59th minute, but midfielder Kabir Hossain's right footed free kick from around 35 yards narrowly sailed over the crossbar.
On the other hand, substitute forward Charles Ikogho of Rahmatganj MFS also had a scoring chance in the 86th minute, but his grounder off a long throw in from Babu missed the target by a couple of inches.
Both Farashganj SC and Rahmatganj MFS played rough football throughout the match as nine players -- six from Rahmatganj and three from Farashganj -- received yellow cards.
