Farashganj surprise Brothers 1-0 in Federation Cup

Sunday, 8 January 2012

Much improved Farashganj Sporting Club finally exposed Brothers Union Club's weakness as they scraped past them by a solitary goal in a final round match of the Grameenphone Federation Cup at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium Saturday, reports BSS.
Farashganj looked to be the superior side as they dominated most of the proceeding but as it started to look that Brothers has survived and almost were on the verge of sharing the points, Farashganj Congolese signing Siyop Zunapiyo scored the winner.
Siyop was found the match-winner in the 86th minute with a powerful shot from the advantageous position. It was Jewel Rana who was behind the goal as he gave the ball to Sivop's path on a platter as the latter made no mistake to slot past the bemused Brothers custodian Raghu.
Farashganj SC has accumulated four points jointly with league leaders Rahmatganj MFS who are leading the group D points table by virtue of having better goal difference, both playing two matches.
Brothers Union Club bagged one point also playing two outings.
In the day's another match, Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society beat Wari Club by 3-0 goals at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS).
Rahmatganj hardly had to wait as their Nigerian forward Francis found the target in the very 5th minute with his solo effort.
Foreign signing Chibui Divine Lucky scored a brace in the 36th and 45th minute to complete the rout.
After the day's outcome, Rahmatganj MFS secured four points while Wari Club remained at their previous credit one point, both playing two matches.
Farashganj SC will take on Wari Club while Brothers Union meets Rahmatganj MFS in their last round of matches of the group D on January 11.
