Fares for diesel-run vehicles reduced
Monday, 27 October 2008
The government has reduced the highest fares for the diesel-run inter-district and long-distance buses and minibuses after lowering the fuel prices, as oil prices dropped drastically on the international market, reports UNB.
Fare of the diesel-run buses, excepting those ferried through Mawa and Paturia, decreased from Tk 1.05 to Tk 0.98 per km for each passenger, while fare of such minibuses decreased to Tk 1.01 from Tk 1.08.
Fares of diesel-run buses that are ferried through Mawa and Paturia came down to Tk 1.01 from Tk 1.08, while that of such minibuses reduced to Tk 1.04 from Tk 1.11.
"The re-fixed fares will come into effect from Sunday," said an official release.
Earlier in the day, the government cut down the prices of petroleum fuels on an average by 12 per cent, as their rates on the world market plummeted in the wake of western economic recession.
