Faridpur clash leaves 20 injured

At least 20 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups at Kamdia village in Saltha Upazila in Faridpur on Friday. Locals said there had been a long-running enmity between Nurul Islam Matubbar and Siddik Matubbar of the village. In a sequel to the enmity, Siddik Matubbar’s men attacked Mohammad Fakir, supporter of Nurul Islam, and chopped him with sharp weapons, leaving him seriously injured. Later, followers of Teharuddin Matubbar of Laxandia village supported by Siddik, equipped with homemade arms, engaged in a fierce clash, leaving 20 injured on both sides. Some 20 dwelling houses were vandalised and looted. Five of the injured, including Mohammad Fakir, were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital and Nagarkanda hospital. Police arrested two people from the spot, according to UNB.
