Farmers busy cultivating jute in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Apr 23: Sowing of jute is about to be completed in Nilphamari district. Tilling of farmland has already been completed and jute seeds are being splited in the prepared farmland. Sources said due to high price of jute in the previous years the farmers are encouraged to cultivate jute extensively by increasing their cultivable land for jute farming. Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said this years jute cultivation target of local and Tossa variety is on 12,587 hectares of land and production target is 1,35,074 tonnes.
