Farmers expect bumper Boro production in Mymensingh

MYMENSIN GH, Apr 9 (BSS) Farmers are expecting a bumper production of Boro in the current season in Mymensingh district.
Tender paddy plants rippling in the breeze not only catches the imagination of the onlookers around, it also sends waves of joy to the concerned farmers in the area.
The farmers who toiled very hard are expecting a bumper production this year, if there is no natural disaster.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said a total of 2, 61,500 hectors of land were brought under Boro cultivation with a production target of 10,12,493 metric tons in all 12 upazilas of the district.
Of the total, hybrid variety has been cultivated on 25,325 hectors of land, Opshee on 2,35,810 hectors and local varieties have been cultivated on 365 hectors of land.
Department of Agriculture Extension Office sources told BSS that, they are expecting desired yields due to favourable climate, recent rainfall, proper irrigation, supply of quality seeds, fertilizers, electricity, insecticides, proper care and monitoring by the concerned officials.
