Farmers happy over bumper production of watermelon

KHULNA, Apr 16 (BSS): Farmers and officials of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) are happy with bumper production and satisfactory price of watermelon in Khulna.
Varieties of watermelon have now flooded the local market. A total of 580 hectares of land was brought under watermelon cultivation in nine upazilas of the district this year, said sources in the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) in Khulna.
The DAE, Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute and many NGO's have supplied adequate quality seeds, other inputs to the farmers and provided them with necessary technical assistance.
