Faruk urges BNP to shun destructive politics

Wednesday, 24 November 2010

Commerce Minister Lt Col (retd) M Faruk Khan has urged BNP to avoid destructive politics so that the international business community does not think that Bangladesh is a land of political conflicts, reports BSS.
"I hope BNP will call off hartal considering the economic loss," he said.
The minister made the call after inaugurating a business body on 'Nordic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI)' at a city hotel Tuesday, reports BSS.
Mr Khan said strike would not bring prosperity for a country like Bangladesh, which was moving forward with macroeconomic stability.
"When Bangladesh's economy is growing with satisfaction for doing business and for foreign investments, BNP called hartal to hinder the growth", he added.
"I hoped that the main opposition would join parliament to speak about the people instead of taking on the streets," the commerce minister said.
"People will resist any activity destructive to the economy", he added.
