Faruq Khan assures NRBs, foreign investors to give priority

Commerce Minister Md Faruq Khan has said that any investment from non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) and other foreign investors would be treated with high priority.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a non-resident Bangladeshi (NRB) conference jointly organised by Moodring, a Dubai-based event management company, and Bangladesh Real Estate Directory at Radisson SAS Hotel, Deira, Dubai, UAE recently, said a press release.
Consul General of Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Md Abdul Hye presided over the conference, while Senior Vice President of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and Chairperson of Centre for NRBs MS Shekil Chowdhury was the special guest.
The minister told the audience that his office would provide every support to NRBs initiatives.
He added that remittance from NRBs played a vital role in country's development and NRBs should support their motherland sending remittance through official channels.
Commercial Counsellor of Bangladesh to the UAE Md Mahmudur Rahman presented the keynote paper at the conference in which he outlined the possibilities of investments and remittances from the UAE to Bangladesh.
About 70 other top executives from Bangladesh mostly from banks and real estate sector took part in the conference.
Mr Shekil moderated the session and a Dubai Declaration was adopted at the conference and was handed over to the minister.
Among others, former president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Mir Nasir Hussain, President of the Real Estate and Housing Association Bangladesh (REHAB) Tanveerul Haque, Director of the Export Promotion Bureau Shawkat Ali, Managing Director of Eastern Bank Limited Ali Reza Iftekhar and Chief Executive Officer of the Sanmar Properties Limited MI Khasru were present at the conference, the release added.
