Faster treatment of drug-resistant TB underway in B'desh

Bangladesh expects a major breakthrough in finding quick treatment of drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB) after a preliminary finding of an observational study shows positive signs of curing patients in nine months, 15 months down from existing protocol for two years, reports BSS.
According to the findings of the study conducted on 395 multi-drug resistant (MDR) tuberculosis pa tients, nearly 88 per cent have fully recovered from the disease with a combination of four- second line drugs that are less toxic and more economical.
