Father gets life term for killing son

BANDARBAN, Aug 29 (BSS): A court here today sentenced four people of a family to life term imprisonment for killing same family member in Naikhongchhari upazila of the district in 2016.
District and Sessions Judge Md Fazle Elahi Bhuiyan pronounced the verdict this afternoon.
The court also fined them Taka 10,000 each.
Accused Arif Ullah and Shahnaz Begum were present in the court while the verdict was pronounced. Accused Mozaffar Ahmed and Asma Siddiqa were absconding.
The convicts were sentenced to life term are- Mozaffar Ahmed, 65, the victim's father, Arif Ullah, 35, the victim's brother, Asma Siddiqa, 28, the brother's wife and Shahnaz Begum, the victim's sister, administrative officer-in-charge of Bandarban District and Sessions Judge Court Kamrul Hasan said.
According to the prosecution of the case, Shah Alam was beaten by hammers, iron rods and tree sticks by the convicts including his father Mozaffar, brother Arif and sister in-law Asma on December 9, 2016 over sharing of settlement land.
Later, Shah Alam was first admitted to Naikhongchhari Hospital and later, he was admitted to Chattogram Medical Collage Hospital for better treatment where he died at the hospital on December 18, 2016.
