Father, son killed in Sylhet road accident

An elderly man and his son were killed as a pick-up van collided with a truck on Sylhet-Jokiganj road in Golapganj upazila of Sylhet district on Saturday. The deceased were identified as Ekhlas Uddin, 70, and his son Altaf Uddin, 35 of Borolekha upazila of Moulvibazar district. AKM Fazlul Haque Shibli, officer-in-charge of Golapganj Police Station said the truck collided with the pick-up van in Fulbari area of the upazila around 8am, leaving pick-up van passenger Altaf dead on the spot and his father Ekhlas critically injured. Ekhlas died on the way to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital, according to a news agency.
