Father, two children drown in Sirajganj

A man and his two minor children were drowned while they were ‘fishing’ in Cholon Beel at Nafo Syedpur village in Taras upazila of Sirajganj district on Monday. The deceased were identified as Altaf Hossain, 40, a resident of the village and a teacher of Rarimzani Qaumi Madrasha, his son Lapul, 6, and daughter Anita, 8. Relatives said Altaf Hossain along with his two children were missing since they had gone for fishing in Chalan Beel, which is adjacent to the village, around 11am on Monday. On Tuesday morning, locals found their floating bodies on the water of Cholon Beel and informed police. Police went to the spot and recovered the body from the water. Ataur Rahman, officer-in charge of Taras Police Station confirmed the incident, according to a news agency.
