Sunday, 2 December 2007

FE Report
Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Mir Nasir Hossain lauded the government decision to set up a 'Truth Commission' to bring about a change in procedure of trial of corrupt businessmen.
He also appreciated the formation of Regulatory Reforms Commission and setting up of Bangladesh Better Business Forum (BBBF) by the government. The forums will contribute a lot to the country's economy. These will also strengthen public-private coordination.
The observations of the FBCCI president were made at the annual general meeting (AGM) of the country's apex trade body at its conference centre in the city Saturday.
Mir Nasir Hossain presided over the AGM. FBCCI First Vice President Mohammad Ali, Vice President Dewan Sultan Ahmed and directors were present, among others, on the occasion.
The FBCCI chief, in his speech, said the previous year was eventful for the country. After the end of the tenure of the government, the overall situation of the country deteriorated. Violence and anarchy prevailed. The board of directors, in its emergency meeting, expressed its deep concern and anxiety over the situation that prevailed earlier.
A sense of relief returned to public life after assumption of responsibility by the present government on January 11, 2007.
