FBCCI for further extension of tax return deadline

Saturday, 1 November 2014

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) on Saturday urged the government to further extend the deadline for submission of income tax returns to November 30. The apex trade body has already written a letter to Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) M Ghulam Hussain to consider the request, said an official at the FBCCI. Though the deadline for submission of income tax return expires on November 2, the outcome on tax return submission is not satisfactory yet, said the official. The FBCCI thinks the festivals of Eid-ul-Azha and Durga Puja and recent hartals made it difficult for many people to submit their income tax returns within the given time. Earlier, the deadline for submitting income tax returns for the current year was extended by a month from September 30, according to a news agency.
