FBCCI greets PM on 100pc power coverage

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) congratulates Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her government's achievement of 100-per cent power coverage in the country.
On Monday, the PM officially declared the achievement of 100-per cent power coverage as she inaugurated the country's biggest Payra 1320-megawatt thermal power plant with ultra super-critical technology.
In a congratulatory message, FBCCI president Md Jashim Uddin congratulates Sheikh Hasina on her achievement of 100 per cent electrification in the country.
He recalls the PM's earlier promise to illuminate every house with electricity.
"She has fulfilled her promise in the year of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birth centenary and the golden jubilee of independence of Bangladesh."
"The prime minister's far-sighted plan and successful implementation brought Bangladesh under the 100-per cent power coverage," Mr Jashim says.
Economic activity in remote areas gets an impetus now, thanks to countrywide electrification, he adds.
Besides, job creation through new business ventures locally has resulted in a development in all sectors, including education, health, agriculture and industry.
The FBCCI chief says people's lifestyle in backward areas has changed. At the same time, this initiative has paved the way for balanced development countrywide.
He hopes for timely implementation of other development goals like the complete power coverage feat and that Bangladesh will emerge as a developed country by 2041.
