FBCCI should be neutral, not biased: Delwar
Monday, 29 November 2010
Opposition BNP Sunday questioned the neutrality of the FBCCI president and said the apex body of the business community was biased in its statement opposing Tuesday's countrywide hartal called by the party to protest the repressive measures of the government, reports UNB.
Khandakar Delwar Hossain, BNP secretary general, sharply reacting to the statement of FBCCI president A K Azad posed a question as to why they did not raise their voice when Awami League had enforced hartals for some 173 days during the BNP regime without any issue.
When asked to comment on FBCCI president's statement Delwar suggested him to maintain neutral role in political affairs of the country.
Opposing the hartal Azad was reported to have said that the business community had the strength and capacity to stand against hartal. Azad, however, hastened to retreat. "It was my personal opinion," Delwar quoted Azad as saying a day after his statement was published.
